2017 WTF World Taekwondo Championships

2017 WTF World Taekwondo Championships successfully ended after 7 days of competitions. Especially, this year’s championship is considered the biggest and the most successful taekwondo events of all time. One of the biggest reasons behind this successful event was volunteers’ sincere efforts to support the athletes and stakeholders. Students of Dream Together Master, run by the Global Sport Management Graduate Program at Seoul National University, also participated in this sport mega event as volunteers and contributed to the success of the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships.

During the championships, the students were assigned to the representative squad from all over the world and provided translating and interpreting services. Also, they helped athletes and coaching staffs adapt to the new circumstances quickly. Especially, Soe Soe Myar (Ministry of Sports, Myanmar) participated in the event as an international referee. Soe Soe Myar said: “I want to fulfill my dreams of promoting women’s human rights in female sports through the Dream Together Master program, and I am enormously grateful for their support.”

After the game, the students made a group to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the international games operations and provide constructive feedback on how improvements can be made. Their presentation was held on September 1st, 2017 at Seoul National University.
